Patron Saints of Catechists

St. Alexander of Jerusalem

St. Bakhita of Olossio

St. Cyril of Jerusalem

St. Irenaeus of Lyon
Feast: June 28“An early Church Father known for his fight against Gnosticism and his theological writings.”
St. John Baptist de la Salle
Feast: April 7“He founded the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and significantly advanced modern education practices.”

St. John Vianney
Feast: August 4“St. John Vianney was a humble parish priest renowned for his dedication to the sacrament of confession and pastoral care.”
St. Nicetas of Remesiana
Feast: September 14“He was known for his evangelization efforts among the Goths and for his theological writings.”
St. Paul Chong Hasang
Feast: September 20“A Korean lay catechist and seminarist martyred for his faith during the Joseon Dynasty persecutions.”
St. Pedro Calungsod
Feast: April 2“A Filipino teenage catechist who was martyred in Guam while defending a priest.”
St. Peter Canisius
Feast: December 21“A prominent figure in the Counter-Reformation and a Jesuit Doctor of the Church.”

Feast: January 12“A Papuan catechist who was martyred by the Japanese during World War II for defending the sanctity of Christian marriage.”
St. Robert Bellarmine
Feast: September 17“A prominent Jesuit cardinal and Doctor of the Church, recognized for his defense of Catholic doctrine.”
