Biography
St. Charles Lwanga was a young page in the court of King Mwanga II of Buganda who became chief of the royal pages. He protected younger pages from the king's sexual abuse and secretly baptized them. When the king ordered the execution of all Christian pages, Charles led them in refusing to renounce their faith. He was burned alive at Namugongo.
