St. Anna Wang

A 14-year-old Chinese girl martyred during the Boxer Rebellion for refusing to renounce her Christian faith.

Biography

St. Anna Wang was a young Chinese Christian girl from Majiazhuang village who was caught up in the Boxer Rebellion's persecution of Christians. When soldiers demanded she renounce her faith, the 14-year-old refused, saying she would rather die. She was beheaded and is among the 120 Martyrs of China canonized by Pope John Paul II.
