A former Ethiopian gang leader and robber who converted to Christianity and became one of the greatest Desert Fathers.

Biography

St. Moses the Black was an Ethiopian servant dismissed for theft who became the leader of a gang of bandits. After hiding from authorities in a desert monastery, he was so moved by the monks' way of life that he converted and became a monk himself, eventually leading 75 disciples.
