St. Felipe de Jesús

A Mexican Franciscan friar who was among the Twenty-Six Martyrs of Japan, crucified in Nagasaki.

Biography

St. Felipe de Jesús de las Casas was born in Mexico City and became a Franciscan friar. While traveling from the Philippines to Mexico, his ship was blown off course to Japan, where Christians were being persecuted. He was arrested, marched to Nagasaki, and crucified alongside 25 other Christians.
