St. Olga of Kiev

The first Christian ruler of Kievan Rus', known for her wisdom and her role in paving the way for her grandson St. Vladimir.

Biography

Olga was a regent who ruled Kyivan Rus' with great skill. She was baptized in Constantinople and attempted to bring Christianity to her people, though her own son refused to convert. She is remembered as the first saint of the Russian Orthodox Church.
