Biography
St. Dulce Lopes Pontes, known as Irmã Dulce, was a Brazilian Franciscan sister who devoted her life to serving the poorest people of Salvador, Bahia. She transformed an abandoned fish market into a hospital, founded schools, orphanages, and health centers. She was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and was canonized by Pope Francis in 2019.
