St. Lioba

An Anglo-Saxon missionary nun who was instrumental in the evangelization of Germany under St. Boniface.

Biography

St. Lioba was an Anglo-Saxon Benedictine nun who was sent by her relative St. Boniface to help establish the Church in Germany. She became abbess of Tauberbischofsheim and was renowned for her learning, wisdom, and spiritual counsel. She was so respected that Charlemagne's wife sought her company.
