Biography

The prophet Elijah is one of the most dramatic figures in the Old Testament. He challenged 450 prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, was fed by ravens, raised the dead, and was taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire. The Carmelite Order traces its spiritual lineage to Elijah and the hermits who lived on Mount Carmel.
