Biography
St. John of Damascus was a Syrian Christian monk and theologian who served as a financial officer in the Islamic Umayyad Caliphate before becoming a monk. He wrote extensively against iconoclasm and composed some of the most important theological treatises of the Eastern Church, including 'The Fount of Knowledge.'
