Biography

St. Teresa of the Andes, born Juanita Fernández Solar, was a Chilean girl from a wealthy family who entered the Discalced Carmelite convent in Los Andes at age 18. She lived only 11 months as a Carmelite before dying of typhus, but her diary and letters reveal an extraordinary mystical life. She was the first Chilean saint.
