A wealthy merchant who gave away his fortune after the Revolution to become a monk and a spiritual elder.

Biography

Vasily Muravyov was a successful businessman/milionaire who entered a monastery with his wife (who became a nun). During WWII, he prayed for 1,000 nights on a rock for the salvation of Russia, mirroring his namesake St. Seraphim of Sarov. He became a beloved elder to whom thousands of people from Leningrad flocked for comfort.
