Biography
Peter Yi Myong-so grew up in a Catholic family and eventually settled near Jeonju with his wife and children. The bishops' account describes a gentle man whose illness did not extinguish his religious commitment. He had learned catechism through oral instruction rather than relying on books.
When arrested in December 1866, Peter briefly denied that he was Catholic, then immediately corrected himself. After a temporary release he was arrested again and refused to reveal other believers' whereabouts. He prayed with fellow prisoners and was executed at Jeonju later that month. His story preserves the moment of fear as well as his subsequent fidelity.
