Biography
Peter Nam Kyong-mun worked as a soldier and later sold salted clams in Seoul. After becoming Catholic, he abandoned lending practices that Pacificus Yu judged exploitative and returned the interest he had received. He then helped missionaries travel to communities where they administered the sacraments.
A period of weakened religious practice was followed by renewed commitment and prayer. Arrested in 1846, Peter refused pressure from officials and acquaintances to renounce Catholicism or expose living believers. He died under persecution in September. The bishops' biography discusses beating and strangulation as possible causes, so this summary does not claim certainty about the precise method.
