Biography
Paul Vũ Văn Đổng, also called Dương, was a Catholic community leader at Vực Đường in Hưng Yên. He married and raised children, then carried the household's responsibilities after his wife's death. His household prayed regularly, and villagers selected him to guide the local Catholic community despite his limited resources.
Officials searching Vực Đường arrested leaders in the hope that punishing them would pressure the wider village into religious renunciation. Paul was taken to Ân Thi and remained firm in captivity. His children visited and brought supplies, while he encouraged them to continue their faith. He was beheaded in 1862. He was canonized in 1988.

What the recorded review covers
Individual Catholic institutional source review; original concise factual summary. AI-assisted institutional-source comparison; no qualified human review is claimed. Compared canonical and source names, aliases, clergy or lay status, family relationships and martyrdom details against all 685 baseline canonical or archived identities (625 published) and all prior directory batches. Holy See register number 107 is a distinct individual; source-name variants count as one person. The audio title names Paul Vũ Văn Đổng, but the body calls him Peter Đồng. Vatican individual 107 identifies Paul (Đồng) Dương, matching the Vực Đường lay leader and death in 1862. The erroneous baptismal name Peter is not a searchable alias. Birth-year metadata also varies; life-year range withheld.
