Biography
Paul Nguyễn Ngân was born at Cự Khanh in Thanh Hóa and studied at seminary with Joseph Nguyễn Đình Nghi. After ordination he served several parishes, including Phúc Nhạc and the communities around Duyên Mậu. Serious illness interrupted his ministry for years while he received treatment at Vĩnh Trị. He later resumed work at Trình Xuyên and then Kẻ Báng.
Paul found the repeated need to hide during persecution distressing and feared reports of imprisonment and torture. He also regretted his moments of anger. Captured at Kẻ Báng, he ultimately refused to give up his faith. He was beheaded at Bảy Mẫu with Fathers Joseph Nghi and Martin Thịnh in 1840. Paul was canonized in 1988.
