Biography
Manuel González García grew up in Seville and received part of his education as a cathedral choirboy. He entered the seminary and was ordained in 1901. An early pastoral visit to Palomares del Río, where he found a neglected tabernacle, sharpened his commitment to Eucharistic devotion as a focus of priestly service.
He served as chaplain to the Little Sisters of the Poor and then worked in a parish in Huelva, where religious and social needs demanded attention. Later bishop of Palencia, he promoted the Eucharistic Reparative Union and founded the Eucharistic Missionaries of Nazareth. These initiatives connected adoration with concern for people in need. Francis canonized Manuel González García in 2016.
