Biography
Magdalene Kim Ob-i practiced Catholicism from childhood. Although she had hoped to remain unmarried, she accepted her parents' decision that she should marry. After losing her husband and children, she devoted more of her life to religious instruction, helping neighbors learn Catholic teaching.
Together with Barbara Han A-gi's mother, she also encouraged Barbara to return to practicing the faith. Magdalene and Barbara were arrested in 1836. Magdalene continued to explain her beliefs during questioning and refused to renounce them. She was executed in Seoul in 1839, alongside Barbara, Agatha Kim A-gi and other Catholics.
