Biography
Magdalene Cho, daughter of Catherine Yi, helped her mother through sewing and weaving before moving to Seoul to work in a Catholic household. She chose an unmarried life, supported her family with her earnings, and later taught people preparing for baptism. She also cared for the sick and took on demanding work for others.
Magdalene and her mother were arrested during the persecution of 1839. They remained faithful under interrogation and suffered illness after severe mistreatment. Both died in prison around late September or early October. Their shared institutional biography distinguishes Magdalene's work and choices from her mother's story rather than treating them as one person.
