Biography
Jeanne Delanoue helped run her family's business in Saumur before turning its resources and her attention toward people in poverty. After an older pilgrim urged her to care for needy neighbors, visits gradually became a full-time work of hospitality. She welcomed children, sick people and older adults into accommodation she could provide.
Women joined her in this service, forming the Sisters of Saint Anne of Providence. The community established homes for poor people and schools, while Jeanne sustained an extensive life of prayer. John Paul II canonized her in 1982. Her biography traces a substantial change in how she used work, property and responsibility.
