Biography

Francesco Spinelli was born in Milan, where his parents worked for a noble household. Frequent family moves led him to boarding school, followed by studies in Bergamo. From childhood he accompanied his mother in helping poor neighbors. He entered the diocesan seminary, attending as an external student because of weak health.

His priestly work centered on Eucharistic adoration and assistance to people facing poverty and rejection. He founded and guided the Sisters Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament, joining prayer with charitable service. The institutional biography describes repeated difficulties in sustaining this work and identifies forgiveness and care for overlooked people as lasting themes of his ministry. Francis canonized Francesco Spinelli in 2018.
