Biography
Felix of Nicosia was a Capuchin brother in Sicily. Born Giacomo Amoroso, he sought admission to the community for years before being accepted. His religious life centered on simple duties and collecting alms, work that brought him into regular contact with people outside the friary.
Although he had little formal education, the Catholic account remembers the effect of his humility and kindness rather than measuring his service by academic achievement. He carried out ordinary tasks with fidelity and shared the life of a community dependent on generosity. He died in 1787, was canonized by Benedict XVI in 2005, and is commemorated on May 31. No quotation or extraordinary episode is necessary to describe this practical pattern of service.
