Biography

Barbara Han A-gi learned Christianity from her mother but stopped practicing after marrying a man who was not Catholic. Her mother and Magdalene Kim Ob-i helped her return to the faith. When Barbara later lost her husband and children, she moved back to her parents' home.

There she instructed people preparing for baptism and baptized children in danger of death. She was arrested with Magdalene in 1836 and endured prolonged imprisonment. Barbara refused to give up Catholicism under interrogation and was executed in Seoul in May 1839. Her individual entry belongs to the Korean bishops' collection of canonized martyr saints.
