Biography

Arcangelo Tadini was ordained in Brescia in 1870 and eventually became parish priest of Botticino Sera. His ministry included catechesis, music and the care of parish organizations. He paid particular attention to the insecurity and injustice experienced by workers as industrial employment changed the lives of local families.

He organized mutual assistance for workers and established a spinning mill to provide employment for young women. In 1900 he founded the Worker Sisters of the Holy House of Nazareth. These sisters supported women by sharing their labor in factories, giving his educational and pastoral work a distinctive place within everyday working life. Benedict XVI canonized Arcangelo Tadini in 2009.
