Biography
Anthony Kim Song-u came from Kusan and was known for generosity before and after becoming Catholic. Other family members embraced the faith as well. After moving to Seoul, he provided space in his home where Pierre Maubant could celebrate Mass, making household hospitality part of the community's religious life.
Anthony and his family were arrested at the beginning of 1840. During a lengthy imprisonment, he continued to instruct others in Catholicism, including fellow inmates. He refused to renounce his faith and was strangled in April 1841. The bishops' account links his martyrdom with a sustained practice of welcome, teaching and material support.
