Biography

Agatha Yi So-sa was widowed after a short marriage and returned to care for her mother and much younger brother, Peter Yi Ho-yong. Sewing helped her support the household. She studied Catholic teaching and shared it with Peter while the family lived in difficult financial circumstances.

The siblings were arrested together in 1835. Agatha refused both to abandon her faith and to identify other believers to the authorities. Peter died during their imprisonment, while she remained in custody until her execution in Seoul in May 1839. Her individual biography supplies that death year, correcting the inconsistent reference to her in Peter's account.
