Biography
Agatha Yi Kyong-i came from a Catholic family and later lived with Agatha Kwon Chin-i after separating from her husband under Bishop Imbert's direction. The bishops' account, citing a government report, remembers her work visiting and assisting Catholics and bringing members of her family to the faith.
The two women were arrested in July 1839, briefly escaped with help, and were then captured again in a Catholic household in Seoul. Neither renounced Catholicism under torture. Agatha Yi Kyong-i was executed at Tangkogae in January 1840. She is distinct from her companion Agatha Kwon and from other martyrs with the surname Yi.
