Biography
Thomas Son Cha-son came from a Korean Catholic family marked by martyrdom. He and his wife maintained a regular practice of morning and evening prayer. During the persecution of 1866, police looted Catholic households in his village; Thomas went to the district office to seek the promised compensation.
Instead, the governor demanded that he renounce God and arrested him when he refused. Thomas endured torture and transfers between prisons without abandoning his faith. He was eventually strangled at Kongju. The bishops' page contains inconsistent age and birth-year information and recounts miraculous healing; this summary avoids inferring a corrected age or presenting the miracle account as independently established history.
