Biography
Peter Son Son-ji was baptized in infancy and learned Catholic doctrine from his father. Jacques Chastan later appointed him a catechist. As a married man with children, Peter opened his house as a mission station where people gathered for prayer, instruction and baptism.
When police arrived in December 1866, he helped his wife and children leave through a back door before being arrested. He refused to deny God despite his mother's attempts to obtain his release and officials' severe mistreatment. He was executed at Jeonju that month. His biography shows how a family home could sustain communal worship during a period of danger.
