Biography

St. Perpetua was a young, well-educated noblewoman from Carthage who was arrested during the persecution of Emperor Septimius Severus. Despite her father's pleas and her love for her infant son, she refused to renounce her faith. Her prison diary is one of the earliest known writings by a Christian woman and provides a vivid account of early Christian martyrdom.
