Biography

St. Matilda was the wife of King Henry I of Germany (Henry the Fowler) and mother of Emperor Otto the Great. After her husband's death, she devoted her wealth to founding monasteries, convents, and charitable institutions. Despite being criticized by her sons for her generosity, she continued her charitable work throughout her life.
