Biography

Dominic Trần Duy Ninh belonged to a Catholic family at Trung Linh in Nam Định. His parents held responsibilities in the local church and prepared their son for religious life under persecution. He married a woman from the same village, and the couple combined ordinary household work with prayer and Christian observance. Their community became increasingly anxious as reports of arrests reached it.

Dominic was among the village men ordered to report at Xuân Trường. He anticipated the demand to step over a cross and resolved to refuse it despite the consequences. Captivity and repeated questioning did not change that decision. He was beheaded in 1862. He was canonized in 1988.
