Biography
Columba Kim Hyo-im grew up near the Han River and became Catholic with her mother and siblings after her father died. She and her sisters Agnes and Clara chose to remain unmarried. Living in their brother Anthony's household, they practiced prayer, fasting and assistance to people in need.
Columba was arrested with Agnes in 1839 and protested the guards' mistreatment of her sister. Both endured abuse without renouncing their faith or betraying fellow Catholics. Columba was executed in Seoul later in September, after Agnes had already been killed. The bishops' shared biography identifies each sister separately as a canonized martyr.
