St. Alexis Falconieri
Alexis Falconieri was one of the seven Florentine founders of the Servants of Mary, commonly called the Servites. These merchants left their businesses to pursue prayer, fraternal life and service under the patronage of Mary. Their community developed at Monte Senario and followed the Rule of Saint Augustine.
The seven founders were canonized together by Leo XIII in 1888, but Alexis remains an individually identifiable member of that group. Their shared February 17 commemoration is associated with the death of Alexis, the last surviving founder, in 1310. His biography belongs within that common history: it is a story of friendship, shared renunciation and the development of a religious community, rather than a separate founding of his own.
February 17 is a Catholic commemoration recorded by Nominis. This daily reading does not determine the Mass or liturgical rank; local calendars and higher-ranking celebrations can differ.
